Make-Up Books

I have recently been looking at colleges for make-up and I wanted to feel inspired. I browsed the internet and YouTube to try and find the best make-up books out there. I found three that really stood out to me and would be the most use to me. They are all very different and I love them. They did take over a week to get to me, but they finally arrived and they were worth the wait.

'Make-Up, The Ultimate Guide', Rae Morris

This book is great for learning how to experiment with looks. There are step-by-step tutorials on how to achieve a certain make up look, which I think is pretty awesome. It is definitely something I would recommend to anyone who is beginning with make-up or for anyone who wants extra tips with techniques, like me. There is even a guide on which eyeshadow colours to use for which eye colour, which is great, especially if you want to make the eyes the main feature.
It covers skin preparation, eye shape, make-up looks for over 40's, tools you will need ...it literally has everything and you can view it on amazon.
I think this is an awesome book.

'Making Faces', Kevyn Aucoin

This was the only book that I couldn't find on amazon, but it is on The Book Depository.  Again, there are step-by-step tutorials on how to achieve certain looks. It covers all sorts of make-up looks from the iconic Marilyn Monroe look, to a model look and it is very diverse. I think that this is definitely a book for beginners or for anyone who wants extra tips. I cannot wait to recreate some of these looks as they are really inspiring.

'Make-Up Is Art', The Academy of Freelance Make-Up

This is the only hardback book out of the three and it is definitely a more extravagant book. It has incredible, modern photography and so many exciting make-up looks. I definitely think this is a book for a more advanced make-up artist, however just really wanted it, to inspire me. There is a mixture of wearable looks and more editorial looks in this book, which is great, especially if you're like me and want to get started with something simple. This book is on amazon so you can check it out if you wanted to.

xx
